what do you do with all the snow

you eat it.

At least that is what Indigo does.

She licks the snow banks and she gets snow on her nose.

winter blas

Have hardly been shooting any pictures.  Snow, white, storm, snow white strom.
It looks same ole, same old.

Here are some more shots of Frost which may look similar
but is never the same.

Please note that the sun has moved much further north
the past few weeks.
Spring sneeking up on us.

lots and lots of rocks

I want you to think of stones and rocks.
  They are not manufactured.
They have been here for millennium.
The rock people are the core of the earth.
They may get broken up or spewn out in volcanoes
but the bottom line is when you see a stone or rock
at the top of a mountain, in a field or at the edge of a river or ocean,
that rock or stone is ancient.

When you think of what they have seen you would think
we might respect them, hold them in awe at the very least.

I have no clue what these rocks are, what their geological properties are.
I don't care.  That is not why I have them.
I have asked for rocks, gotten permission for them to come to me.

I have no right to disturb them without their permission
and they do not always give permission.

One of those things I learned from native friends respect of nature.
Believe me when one tries to bring a rock into their space without permission
it does not work well.

Many of these I have found over the years, here, abroad, in Canada, The Isle of Man,at the ocean.
Yet many of these were gifts from friends.

Most people have store bought made crafted decorations like china in their homes.

I prefer rocks.
Give me rocks and stones.

Rocks know so much.  How can they not.
No two alike, some big, some small, some you can see into, some dark.

Rocks bring me a feeling of peace.
Some of my rocks can heal.
I have sat with rocks, slept with rocks, I have lost rocks.
Sometimes they stay for a spell and then leave.

more of my friends from the house and greenhouse can't take pictures of those in the yard
because they are buried in snow

kitty gym

IN the summer Wilde and Wooly exercise outside
hunting and chasing each other up and down trees.

Winter is a different animal and they are stuck inside
bored, bored bored.
I have set up games and toys
which seem to help.
It sounds like horses thundering on a race track
when they are playing full tilt.

anatomy and physiology because ~

When I was a young person in school we studied biology
with some bits and pieces of anatomy and physiology.
the heart, the digestive system, etc.
 It was interesting.
In hindsight I should have paid far more attention
as it is one subject that keeps reappearing in my life (far more than calculus)

Thank the good lord for the Internet and searches
where on can learn about bone spurs, heart, warts, digestion, diet and and and.....

Some of my systems do not seem to be working as they used to
which is why I decide to check on them ~ sinus, breathing, etc. ~
what is a normal bowel movement?
what's the difference between aspirin, aleve, Advil etc.
what do they do.

It amazes me beyond words how complex this machine is.
It keeps chugging along happily until something is unhappy and that is when
I start searching, trying to find the what and why.
No wonder I wonder if something is muscle, lung, or  heart related
as they all overlap
in some areas.
Not so simple to figure out even with all those websites with pictures,
symptoms and remedies
and instruction of when to panic.

I am sure biology 101 did not cover
muscle cramps in the legs at night, not sleeping at night
 or farting
or post nasal drip.
That was probably a later course which when I was a teen
I would have found BORING.
Now I find these subject interesting oh my yes, important, and pertinent.

  Who know?

4 directions and the hard season

The Native Americans honor the wheel of life
and the four directions.
All are important and remain in balance.
It is something that seems so basic
you would think all mankind would understand this.
They are always aware of each and of all.
You cannot have one without the other.
They represent the times ~ dawn, noon, evening and night.
They represent the seasons ~ spring summer autumn and winter.
They represent the times in life ~ infant, youth, middle age and elder.

Each has a time and a purpose under heaven

When they do ceremony they ask in the four directions
and also Up
the sky
and
Down, the earth.
How lovely and how balanced.

We are in winter now
and it is a hard season yet important.
A time to sit, to wait, to look inward.
It is sometime harsh, demanding and teaches us patience,
introspection, looking at ourselves and looking within,
with discipline.
People want to rush by this season move on to spring and green and growing,
yet nature knows this time to hunker down,
hibernate, slow
is needed
so we are properly prepared to go into the next season.
