spring is so trying

 Winter was mild.  Thank you creator.  We did not need long and hard this year.  So here it is mid April and the snow has gone off, the mud is mostly done and dafs are blooming.  Green is all around.  For a spell it was unseasonable warm and that made everything try to pop out.  That went away.  Again thank you.  We don't need to race through spring.  Birds are returning in number and they are eating suet to beat the bank.  What joy. 

remembering a friend

 This is the anniversary of the day that Shunka left us.  Been a bitch of a year.  A new friend has appeared Rugula a cat who is scared, silly and who needed me.  Not a friend of Tim's which is interesting.  A dog has not appeared and I have not pushed it for many reasons and if and when it is supposed to happen it shall.   In the meantime the house and land seem empty without the presence of a large critter.

 When we lived in Maryland we seemed to have friends and we certainly had lots of family.  Our friends were assorted and some stopped by, but mostly it was dinners with another couple.  Here in Maine making friends has not happened.  For whatever reason over the years I decided I needed friends and have made a few, but and there is a but.... these friends are few and far between and mostly not my age and often don't share much in common.   I have always felt more comfortable with my animals than friend.  They don't judge, my expectations  

When I list those things that please me, people are not up on my list.  Walking, nature, animals, photography yes .... getting together with friends.... not so much.

I am a misfit in much of life.  So be it.  Way late to change my stripes.  Bottom line is I must only answer to me and if something does not feel good, why would I do it. If I disappeared from this world very few would notice.

 What I learned was 1. it was really cold out with low temps and wind.   2.  I under dressed with a light jacket and work gloves.  These two came together and made me cold.  Not being crazy I decided to stop working and taking pictures and to come inside.
